Sodom and Gomorrah

8 06 2009

Because it’s so hard to discuss this via twitter Im going to write my response here.

This is  ‘RandomPondering’s tweet that I responded to.

“”Sins of Sodom”" was NOT any sexual immorality: READ Ezekiel 16:49-50 So, either the pastors/priests r lying or God. Redefine “Sodomy” Ouch

Here is my response:

@RandomPondering The men of sodom wanted 2 perform homosexual gang rape on Gods angels. They obviously had more issues than just being greedy

Now Im going to speak further on this since this person responded back to me.

Genisis 19:5-9 it describes how the men of Sodom wanted to rape the angels, which is in fact an inhospitable act.

But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter .And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; -King James Version

The keyword in this scripture is the word “know” . The translation suggests that it refers to sex. For Lot offered his two virgin daughters up to the men of Sodom even saying that they had not “known” men.

The Angels were sent to scout out any righteous people that were left in the city. For if they could find a certain number of people God would spare the city. They were wicked people who engaged in all types of sin and without shame. This instance was just the straw that broke the camels back.Since Lot who was Abrahams brotherwas the only one, he was spared and the rest of the city was destroyed.

The point I was trying to make in my first tweet was that even though that text in Ezekial pointed out a specific sin of the people of Sodom, it was only one of many.

The passage you pointed out Ezekiel 16:49-50 reads:

‘Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. 50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen. -NIV

If you read all of Ezekiel 16 and take everything into context it’s clear that  The Bible is referring not onlyto the sexual immorality of Jerusalem but also it’s sister nation Sodom  .

In summary of Ezekiel 16, God gave jerusalem perfect beauty andthey became famous for it across the Land.

Ezekial 16:15-17 reads :

‘But you trusted in your beauty and used your fame to become a prostitute. You lavished your favors on anyone who passed by and your beauty became his. [d] 16 You took some of your garments to make gaudy high places, where you carried on your prostitution. Such things should not happen, nor should they ever occur. 17 You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.

I just wanted to add that because it sounds a lot like what people in our world today are doing.

Ezekiel 20-23 describes a gruesome act were the people of Jerusalem sacrificed their children to these idols as food.

Ezekiel 44-48 describes how Jerusalem acts just like the sister nations that came before them. including Sodom. Not only did they copy their ways but they took them to another level.

Each nation did detestable things before the Lord. There was not just one sin, but many sins. Sexual immoralit was just one of many.

There are many instances in the bible like the one in Ezekial that points out the sin of sodom and Gomorrah.

Jeremiah 23:14 records Sodoms sin of adultry and lying.

Isaiah 3:9 talks about how they sinned with no shame

Jude 1:7 records their sexual immorality it reads:

7Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

The Bible references Sodom and Gomorrah all over the place for numerous types of sin, because honestly they had done it all

I know I probably missed something, but if you want to refute anything Ive said just hit up my twitter again or leave a comment.

Okay I’ve had it

Why wont this audio player work. Ive had a bunch of posts lined up but I hate posting without the audio. Im really pissed about it. So much that Im shopping around for a new blog site. I spit on thee

Records I like. count em 1.2.3.4

23 03 2009

A good record is one you can listen to all the way through without skipping tracks. For me it has to be one I’d even play 3 times in a row. I’m not going to name every record I’ve ever liked like that, but just the ones I’ve been listening too lately. And yeah I still say ‘records’ ‘. It just doesn’t sound right to say CD’s, cassettes or Mp3s  even though the  correct term is  ‘album’. I just can’t.

Favorite Song At the Moment: Master Teacher

I am not into Neo Soul, but I’m into Erykah Badu. Mostly because she stays so connected to her hip hop roots. Even though her album ‘Mama’s gun’ is what she is most known for I really can’t get with it. iBumpDidn’t Cha Know“, “Bag Lady“,”…&On“, “Kiss Me On My Neck” and “Green Eyes” always, but thats less than half the tracks on that album!! I have to be in a really good mood to sit and listen through that whole album. It’s not because it’s bad music it’s just not my taste.

So I was elated when New Amerykah Pt.1  first came out. I remember staying up in the computer lab all night just watching the new video for Honey. Not to mention it was produced by 9th Wonder my Fruity Loops hero.(For those that understand that big ups to you). After I heard “ The Healer” I was completely turned off to this album and didn’t care for it again. I don’t hate that song now, but it’s just one of those that have to grow on you.  Like a growth, it has become something I’d rather not have but am used to now.

Other than that one song I could listen to this album for days, and I have. I hate when every song on an  album seems to sound the same, which is why I love how each hip hop beat takes a different approach. Each song is unique in its on way and yet it all seems to connect for this album.

Favorite Song At the Moment: Yeah You

I”m not really a N.E.R.D fan, and for the life  of me I can’t seem to understand Pharrell’s appeal. When it comes to music I always keep an open mind , because you never know what’s going to be great. For the longest time I couldn’t stop playing Britney Spear’s Circus album. It was actually pretty good and would have made this blog entry if it weren’t for 2 or 3 songs I always skip over.

I must say that Pharell’s voice is so annoying to me. It sounds like it’s trapped in a constant fog. I tolerate it because the music is so good and if this was an album of all instrumentals I’d still buy it(I’d actually prefer it). When I was in elementary school I Read the rest of this entry »

Algebra Blessett- Run and Hide

So I am like the last to report on ‘ol girl here. I’m loving her originality and the style that she has made her own. By the way she dresses you’d think she’d be beltin out something similar to Kelis but when you hear her blow you hear it’s nothing similar. It’s more soulful and has meaning to it (something Kelis has always lacked IMO).

But to be real with Algebra, I have only listened to the songs that are on her myspace and none of them are on the level of Run and Hide. I actually couldn’t get through any of them. Her songs were all to familiar . They all sound like something we’ve all heard before. If Algebra wants to come up in the biz she needs to take more risks and do songs that set her apart.

I’ll give her this, she does put a fresh and original face to an old sound. But I’d rather spend my money on some artists who I already know will deliver e.g India Arie, Erykah Badu

Proton-Magazine Dreamz

I’m bumping this trak by Proton because I honestly can’t stop replaying it. And like the geek I am I was listening for every shout out they gave during the song. IMO this a great part 2 to Biggie’s Dream which was the inspiration for this song. What would my bog be without a comparison….

Biggie Smalls- Dreams

And even further from that… So I was listening to the trak and I was thinking that the rhythm and beat were extremely familiar. And thats when it hit me . EFFIN FLOETRY!!

Floetry ft. Mos Def- Wanna B Where U R

So I guess they did a excellent job in taking the originality of others and making it their own. It’s hard to come by any artist who are truly original these days. I guess this match up proves my theory that rappers aren’t anything more than glorified DJs. Just ask Kanye…that’s how he pays his bills

Lights Out – Santogold

13 08 2008

It’s a pretty trendy video to say the least. I know for sure this song is gonna be in my rotation for the next week and a half. But am I the only one who feels like she is trying to hard?

If anyone has seen her interviews or spoke to her in person you’d know what I’m talkin about. On camera she just looks like everything is forced. Usually an artist persona is portrayed on screen but for her she looks totally out of character. Santi White is gettin’ her start in the biz very late in the game so I guess she’s just doing what she can to stay relevant.

HOTT SONG THOUGH

Vlogs….

The Delfonics have cursed me.

What I hate the most is when I come u with a bright idea only to find ten million people have already though that shyt up already. Then all I can do is say “damn” with a blank stare knowin’ I should of thought of it sooner.

So why was I slavin’ over my Fruity Loops and Adobe Audition tryin to sample THIS Delfonics song?

The Jackson 5 covered it. (IMO better than the original)

The Fugees covered/sampled and made a video for it too. Although from listening to Lauryn this sample was influenced by the Jackson 5 cover. “uh huh”. ‘Long live the KING’

And Missy Elliot took the idea right out of my head. Too bad she thought of it 2 years before I did.

Okay Okay, Sooner or later Ima let go of Santogold’s left nut. But this nucca done stole Missy Elliot from Missy Elliot. Uncanny.

I bet it’s the same horse too.

Well I never… ‘Center of attention’

WARNING* For those who need to KILL TIME ONLY

What can I say? Wasted time from beginning to end. Some people just shouldn’t. But I am not mad at Angela for this mess., girl gets her bread anyway she can. Ol’ girl should just stick to her scripted reality show ,cuz besides that ugly ass shoe line it’s the only thing going for her. Don’t get me started on the song . Sounded like a tired 80’s rap on some Will Smith type vibe.

The Simmons gurls have a rep for goin’ all out for their projects.Obviously Angela didn’t spend boo time makin’ this the best it could be. You slippin girl.
