A good record is one you can listen to all the way through without skipping tracks. For me it has to be one I’d even play 3 times in a row. I’m not going to name every record I’ve ever liked like that, but just the ones I’ve been listening too lately. And yeah I still say ‘records’ ‘. It just doesn’t sound right to say CD’s, cassettes or Mp3s  even though the  correct term is  ‘album’. I just can’t.

Favorite Song At the Moment: Master Teacher

I am not into Neo Soul, but I’m into Erykah Badu. Mostly because she stays so connected to her hip hop roots. Even though her album ‘Mama’s gun’ is what she is most known for I really can’t get with it. iBumpDidn’t Cha Know“, “Bag Lady“,”…&On“, “Kiss Me On My Neck” and “Green Eyes” always, but thats less than half the tracks on that album!! I have to be in a really good mood to sit and listen through that whole album. It’s not because it’s bad music it’s just not my taste.

So I was elated when New Amerykah Pt.1  first came out. I remember staying up in the computer lab all night just watching the new video for Honey. Not to mention it was produced by 9th Wonder my Fruity Loops hero.(For those that understand that big ups to you). After I heard “ The Healer” I was completely turned off to this album and didn’t care for it again. I don’t hate that song now, but it’s just one of those that have to grow on you.  Like a growth, it has become something I’d rather not have but am used to now.

Other than that one song I could listen to this album for days, and I have. I hate when every song on an  album seems to sound the same, which is why I love how each hip hop beat takes a different approach. Each song is unique in its on way and yet it all seems to connect for this album.

Favorite Song At the Moment: Yeah You

I”m not really a N.E.R.D fan, and for the life  of me I can’t seem to understand Pharrell’s appeal. When it comes to music I always keep an open mind , because you never know what’s going to be great. For the longest time I couldn’t stop playing Britney Spear’s Circus album. It was actually pretty good and would have made this blog entry if it weren’t for 2 or 3 songs I always skip over.

I must say that Pharell’s voice is so annoying to me. It sounds like it’s trapped in a constant fog. I tolerate it because the music is so good and if this was an album of all instrumentals I’d still buy it(I’d actually prefer it). When I was in elementary school I loved the Where’s Waldo books not only for finding waldo but also for all the ridiculous illustrations in the pictures. there was always something to look out for. That’s sort of what this album is like. It almost forces you to listen to it several times just to catch things you didn’t hear on the first listen. I feel like a kid in a candy shop when i listen to albums like that. I think that’s what makes a producer and true art.

Favorite Song At the Moment: Right As Rain

This girl deserves whatever accolades that are thrown her way for this album. She is the UKs apology for that cracked up waste of talent shame of an artist Amy Winehouse. Unlike Wino, Adele actually has her shyt together and the voice to back her up. I haven’t heard a better soothing and fun album since the release of Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me . Adele has soul and you can feel it melting out of her through every song.

One thing I hate is when a single comes out and it gets played to death, which is the case for Chasing Pavements. The song is so good though that I don’t skip over it when it comes on even though I’ve heard it everyday for the past year. This has much to do with Adele’s voice. She has great vocal ability and her British accent is the cherry on top. This album has so many good gems on it that will last the test of time.

Favorite Song At the Moment: Three way between No More, Just Because and LalaLand. No Private Parts should be in this too. Im just going to say THE WHOLE ALBUM

Brooke D’Leau and Miss Jack Davey are the perfect pair. Listening to their music all you can think is how perfect and how well they compliment each other. I know I ripped through some of the other artist, but I honestly have nothing bad to say about these artist. They did everything right for this album. Nothing is out of place and everything sounds like it should. Although I’d have to say that liking this type of music is an acquired taste. Even though I don’t know what genre to place them in, which is something most artist these days should strive for. J* Davey aint for everyone.

Like I said about the Seeing Sounds record, this record is pure ear candy. There is so much coming at you , it puts you in a musical high. Production on this record is superb. Miss Jack Davey might not be the greatest singer but her style compliments the music. I am a fan of raspy(but smooth) voices so I’m pretty much in love with her.

The lyrics alone on this album are enough to make you say WHOA!  A lot of great messages on this record and story telling.J*Davey is giving E.Badu a real run or her money in the lyric department which is Erykah’s strong point.

If I had to describe this record in one word it would be PURE.

Listen to it HERE

And yeah I know I said I only use ‘record’, but album works to so I guess I can
